Ben-Gurion House, Tel Aviv

4.5
#7 of 32 in Museums in Tel Aviv
One of the main residences of Israel’s first Prime Minister--left to the state after his passing--Ben-Gurion House now serves as a museum and memorial to Israel's founding father. Ben-Gurion lived here with his family when he wasn’t staying at the official Prime Minister’s residence in Jerusalem or his retirement home. On a free tour of the building, you can see Ben-Gurion’s humble chambers, where he wrote the final draft of Israel’s Declaration of Independence, and an array of his books, documents, photographs, and personal items. Put Ben-Gurion House into our Tel Aviv trip itinerary builder and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • Worth joining in this place where Ben Gurion stayed on several occasions. It still retains all the furniture and the gigantic library. You get an idea of the character of those who must have been the beginning of the adventure of Israel. If you love history don't miss visiting.

  • Unforgettable hours to have a glimpse into the life of this great man. One really feels a warmth in this house witnessing Ben Gurion's daily life (even the kitchen where he had meals with his wife Paula). And upstairs four rooms serving as his library with 20,000 books and periodicals in 10 languages. The host was very friendly and showed me a film about Ben Gurion's life and battle. If you are in Tel Aviv, please do not miss to visit. Entrance is free.
  • Unbelievable amazing historical document of Israel's 1.Prime minister modest live. Walk the home of one of the most dominant political individuals in Israeli history. A must for visitors to Tel Avi v
  • Nice piece of Israeli history - quick tour that shouldn't take more than 30mins to an hour.
  • Pretty, and interesting, but not a hugely compelling stop.
  • Good museum and amazing library

Where to stay in Tel Aviv

Dedicated to beach culture, Tel Aviv features many mid-range hotels facing the sea. Look for accommodations here if you plan to spend much of your time in or near the water. For easier access to top cultural attractions, opt for boutique establishments in the southern section of the city center, where you'll also find numerous restaurants and cafes. Alternatively, stylish options in Jaffa (the port area) provide access to the city's Arab heritage and a chance to discover a vibrant street life and numerous markets.
