The Church of the Annunciation, Nazareth
Categories: Architectural Buildings, Sacred & Religious Sites, Tourist Spots
Believed by many to stand over the childhood home of the Virgin Mary, The Church of the Annunciation represents a two-storey contemporary house of worship completed in 1969. Make your way to the ornately decorated lower level, allegedly the spot where angel Gabriel told Mary she would give birth to the Son of God. The majestic domed ceiling suggests the appearance of an inverted lily, a nod to the Semitic translation of Nazareth--flower. Our Nazareth itinerary planner makes visiting The Church of the Annunciation and other Nazareth attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

Saints photos outside. The Church is built in two floors and is located at the heart of the Arab city of Nazareth. Obviously a huge religious importance. Went here on a one-day trip by rental car from Tel Aviv, then continued on the same day to the Galilee and Capernaum. A nice day trip.show original
Beautiful Greek church
The "Saint Gabriel" church is located over part of the origin of the main spring of Nazareth. By local tradition near the site the angel appeared to Mary.

According to Eastern Orthodox believe the well under the church (can been seen in the back) is the spot of the annunciation of Gabriel to Mary that she would conceive and become the mother of Jesus, the Son of God, marking his Incarnation. Luke 1:27-37
