The Church of the Annunciation, Nazareth

(800+ reviews on the web)
Architectural Building
Believed by many to stand over the childhood home of the Virgin Mary, The Church of the Annunciation represents a two-storey contemporary house of worship completed in 1969. Make your way to the ornately decorated lower level, allegedly the spot where angel Gabriel told Mary she would give birth to the Son of God. The majestic domed ceiling suggests the appearance of an inverted lily, a nod to the Semitic translation of Nazareth--flower. Our Nazareth itinerary planner makes visiting The Church of the Annunciation and other Nazareth attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • The Church is very beautiful and evocative. Right now refurbished the, and therefore it is difficult to get around. The Church was filled to the brim with tourists, so we couldn't see much. In addition, parts of the Church, sadly closed.

  • "The sixth month was sent by God the angel Gabriel to a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, to a Virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the House of David; the Virgin's name was Mary. Enter said: "rejoice, full of grace: the Lord is with you" there in that place you can feel part of the spirit of one of the most important facts of humanity. There are daily activities which can participate and accompany the work of the Franciscan custodians of the Holy land. I did not support their work! Inform yourself on the website of the custody of the Holy land. They take care of this and other places for the good of all Catholics and the world in general. The Basilica of the Annunciation is a unique place.
