St. Joseph Church, Nazareth

4.2
#5 of 19 in Things to do in Nazareth
Thought by many to occupy the site of the carpentry workshop of the husband to Virgin Mary, St. Joseph Church represents a modest example of Romanesque Revival style architecture. Built in 1914, the church covers an underground network of caves and early Crusader church remains. Enter the simple public threshold of the Franciscan Roman Catholic church, and descend the short staircase to the crypt for a glimpse at a small section of the underground system of rock-cut chapel and caves. Notice the recurrence of the figure of Joseph across the church's numerous stained glass windows. • Byzantium triumphant building heritage as you can see the structure and the solid architectures over the giant church marking that holiness still there !
  • Good church built over the site of where the holy family is thought to have lived during Jesus' childhood.
  • A reasonable church built over the alleged site of Christ's childhood home, which is most interesting.
  • This church was built over the remains of the place where Jesus dwelt as a child. It is a nice church, just overcrowded at times
  • Built above of the cave Jesus grew up in. I was blessed enough to walk up and down the same steps as our Savior.
