St. Joseph Church, Nazareth
(4.1/5 based on 140+ reviews on the web)
Thought by many to occupy the site of the carpentry workshop of the husband to Virgin Mary, St. Joseph Church represents a modest example of Romanesque Revival style architecture. Built in 1914, the church covers an underground network of caves and early Crusader church remains. Enter the simple public threshold of the Franciscan Roman Catholic church, and descend the short staircase to the crypt for a glimpse at a small section of the underground system of rock-cut chapel and caves. Notice the recurrence of the figure of Joseph across the church's numerous stained glass windows. Put St. Joseph Church at the forefront of your travel plans using our Nazareth itinerary planner.

  • Located on the side of the Annunciation, reminiscent of san Jose. I recommend going to mass early and take advantage of travel through the place in quieter way.

  • Just beside the Church of the Annunciation Church is without comparison with neighbouring highfalutin. Much more pretty, simple and sober with a moving crypt.

  • What a wonderful acknowledgement of Jesus' step father! he doesn't get much recognition and this view of him as a father to our lord is special.

  • A beautifuly built church in this holy place. Worth a visit.
  • On the north side of the Big Basilica is another Franciscan church. In the lower part (crypt) you can see remains of 1st and 2nc century BC, mosaics, a water pit and caves. One of them, according to tradition, was used by Joseph as his workshop.
  • If you in Haifa you must see this Church!
  • Great shots
  • Site that emanates tenderness for the family, there is a mosaic new new! worth photographing.
