  • The Zion Gate is one of 8 gates into Old Jerusalem, from the South. In the Independence War 1948 heavy fights took place here and one still can see bullet holes.
  • The architecture of the Zion gate is very similar to the Jaffa. The same turn at 90 degrees at the entrance to impede the siege. Got its name from the road, which begins here and leads to mount Zion. Another name for gate-Gate of the Prophet David, because they lead to the tomb of the King. For the first time, the gate was used for the purpose intended, that is, during the war in 1948 year. Traces of the war can be seen on the outer side of the gate. Another event around the gate happened in 1967 during the six day war, when the old city through this gate was released from the Jordanians. In the period from 1948 to 1967 year Gates served as the border between Israelis and Jordanians.

  • Zion Gate is not crowded and you can easily enter the old city of Jerusalem. You can go to the West Wall and be at the Jewish part of the old city.
  • This is the first time to see the gate. It is oh some. I'm going to look for the rest of the gates.
  • Yahweh love at the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob. Psalm 87:2
