(4.5/5 based on 1,400+ reviews on the web)
Located within an ancient citadel, Tower of David Museum displays 4,000 years of Jerusalem's history. The museum inhabits several rooms in the ancient fortification dating back to the Hasmonean dynasty that were rebuilt and expanded over millennia. Move through the rooms successively, as they exhibit Jerusalem as it changed chronologically through different time periods and empires' reigns. Climb the tower's ramparts for views over the citadel and the Old City. At night you can attend the sound and light show that illuminates the walls in the courtyard outside. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Jerusalem holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Tower of David Museum and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • Amazing place. Visited during the day and had a great view of the Old City of Jerusalem from the Tower, a wonderful place to take pictures. Interesting museum inside. Returned at night for the Sound and Light show. It was incredible how the laser light display surrounds you on the walls as you learn about the story and history of Israel. I was worried I would not understand the show because I do not speak Hebrew, but is was all music and light, a language everyone understands. I highly recommend attending the show.
  • This museum takes you through the history of Jerusalem. Very well explained and portrayed. Learned so much. I've already been 3 times. Worth going each time. I can highly recommend it.
  • Great musesm which one can learn the history of Jerusalem. Right by the entrance to Jaffa gate inside the old city walls.
  • One of the best museums in Jerusalem. It's a museum of the history of Jerusalem, running from biblical times to the present day. It all goes in chronological order and is very well done. Unlike most museums which are based on a collection, all the items in the museum are replicas (with a few exceptions which are noted). This frees them to be able to display and discuss anything, even if the actual artifact is unattainable, and allows the museum to focus on whatever it needs to focus on to give a comprehensive history of the city.
  • The vibe, the vibe... Amid archeological ruins, a fantastic live performance venue
