History Museum
Located within an ancient citadel, Tower of David Museum displays 4,000 years of Jerusalem's history. The museum inhabits several rooms in the ancient fortification dating back to the Hasmonean dynasty that were rebuilt and expanded over millennia. Move through the rooms successively, as they exhibit Jerusalem as it changed chronologically through different time periods and empires' reigns. Climb the tower's ramparts for views over the citadel and the Old City. At night you can attend the sound and light show that illuminates the walls in the courtyard outside. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Jerusalem holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Tower of David Museum and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • Great historical sight that you must visit when in Jerusalem. Very informative with lots to see. Maybe not good if you are physically impaired.  more »
  • The tower of David Museum presents one of the best views possible of the old city as well as many parts of the new city. This alone makes the citadel worth the visit. Additionally, the site is built o...  more »
  • The Tower of David is magnificent! I loved the audio guide and the map of the museum – it was all very organised! Views from the rooftop of the Phasael Tower – which is the highest place of the Tower ...  more »

  • Really cool museum with a really nice garden inside. Very relaxing. And the historic stone towers are amazing.
  • Very nice bridge between the ancient and the modern at the entrance to the old city. Nice place to walk and tour. If you're new to Israel a guided tour would be best.
  • Maybe I've travelled too much to be easily impressed. I was chilly I didn't dress warmly enough and I didn't know what I was looking at I mean in terms of the symbolism.. They we're giving out some sort of pamphlet on the way in but it's too dark to look at it so I didn't really understand what it was I was supposed to be viewing. the special effects are pretty nice especially if you have nothing else to do that night
  • A wonderful place to visit. I had a good time there. Love Jerusalem Love Israel.
