Tower of David Museum, Jerusalem

4.5
#4 of 231 in Museums in Israel
Located within an ancient citadel, Tower of David Museum displays 4,000 years of Jerusalem's history. The museum inhabits several rooms in the ancient fortification dating back to the Hasmonean dynasty that were rebuilt and expanded over millennia. Move through the rooms successively, as they exhibit Jerusalem as it changed chronologically through different time periods and empires' reigns. Climb the tower's ramparts for views over the citadel and the Old City. At night you can attend the sound and light show that illuminates the walls in the courtyard outside. • Very informative and emotional. Complete detached from any political propaganda and ideology. Thorough documented and exposed so wisely so easily to follow through major historical stories. Curious, significant, easy to dive to a historical moment, beautiful and just pleasant! Highly recommended!
  • The building is cool for what it is. The admission is kind of pricey given that the exhibits are mostly information displays without many genuine artifacts. The two best parts were the view from up top and the 19th century model of Jerusalem.
  • Big. Natural. Interesting to visit. Great view from there. Also meet alot of beautiful female soldiers there😍
  • The audio visual show was incredible. Super high quality of vision and sound with the newest tech equipment.
  • When I entered the old City of Jerusalem I entered through the Jaffa gate adjacent to the tower of David which I later found out had nothing to do with king David. I took the tour of the museum which was very interesting. The view on and from the inside was spectacular. You could feel the history all around you. Walking around the walls and towers I felt like I was back 500 years. The displays were educational and informative. They walk you through the history of not just the tower but Jerusalem. The ups and downs, the ins and outs. Definitely worth the 40 shekels for 2 of us.
