  • The Souk of Jerusalem has, apart from the fact that stood at stand places not much in common with an authentic Oriental bazaar, for example a classic breakdown by commodity groups is hardly to recognize and even producing craftsmen are as good as no longer represented. Everywhere the same mash of souvenirs and devotional objects, mainly there's cheap goods from China - and in between a few food stalls. The prices are usually grotesquely exaggerated and you need to negotiate quite long to get to the usual, still too expensive, tourist price. In the Muslim Quarter, the dealers are sometimes very intrusive, a very popular stitch it is also then if the payment is made at once in dollars to claim the negotiated price. Some traders are also quite rough and intimidating (if you no longer want to have the product then, it is besieged sometimes massively by several people). Best not be intimidated into the next police patrol is not far and one assist. If you are interested in high quality and regional arts and crafts, you will find it best in the Christian quarter (here, also the dealers are friendly) - or the same in Bethlehem.

  • The old city of Jerusalem and the souk boast the most varied and interesting possibilities of visits: since the historic religious places, like the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the wailing wall, the magnificent Esplanade of the mosques, as the possibility of knowing (and buy) products of handicrafts and local food: spices, among others; In addition to tasting the delicious Arab cuisine.
