Pay your respects to prime ministers, presidents, and other notable Jews buried at Mount Herzl National Cemetery, a resting place of many leaders of Zionism and the state of Israel. At 834 m (2,736 ft) above sea level, the mount has served as Israel's national cemetery since 1951. It houses the remains of one of the fathers of modern political Zionism, Theodor Herzl, transferred here from Austria in 1949. Learn about Zionism at the Herzl Center, showing an engaging multimedia presentation about the vision of the Jewish State. You can also visit the Victims of Acts of Terror Memorial, commemorating Jewish lives lost in acts of terrorism since 1851. • Nice serene cemetery, museums nearby.
