  • I think it is 180 steps to the top of the church's tower. It is spiral and VERY narrow. I am not sure if one can climb up if someone is coming down. As a senior adult I made it with a few rest stops. ...  more »
  • Of course, Jerusalem is a place of devotion, but no less a place of religious hustle and the bustle. The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, located almost at the culmination of all this, in close proximity to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, offers what is missing: RESTING in a beautiful, tight space that are quiet can also by its simplicity. There is also the opportunity to climb the Tower, which probably offers the best views of not only the old city of Jerusalem. Which interested the media well elaborated site under the Church and anyone who tries to calm a really good cup of coffee the adjacent cloister of the Church, is archaeological strongly recommended. The visitors of the old city should necessarily perceive this insider tip!

  • No glass, metal bars, big ports, even SLR fits. View is clean 360, not obstructed. Second highest tower in the Old City and nearest area, only one other is above horizon.  more »

  • Great church, great pastor, great people! English speaking congregation meets in a small chapel south of the main Arab/German congregation. Services at 9am!
  • Wonderful must see spot in Jerusalem. Although the tower is severely neglected with graffiti filling up the place it is all worth the view from the top. A 360 degree look over the hurt if Jerusalem. Also the bells are really nice and interesting to examine. The church itself is really spacious and there is an excavating site underneath it. There is also an English speaking church in the complex which hold a pleasant ceremony.
  • The church has a beautiful Cloister in the back, which sometimes holds very interesting photo exhibitions
  • 15 NIS entrance. Excellent view if you can walk up.
  • Protestant church. No God here. Martin Luther the heretic 👍

Where to stay in Jerusalem

Although it lacks a big selection of mid-range options, Jerusalem provides plenty of choices in the top-end hotel category. The Old City contains the bulk of Jerusalem's small hotels, inexpensive hostels, and religious hospices, all of which appeal to budget-conscious travelers. West Jerusalem offers additional options in the form of guesthouses and bigger hotels, some of which boast five-star ratings. If you just need a bed, consider a youth hostel, where you can choose between private and common rooms with Wi-Fi included.
