  • The domes of the church are beautiful. The interior is simple and elegant. Need to take some stairs to get to this quiet church.  more »
  • I wanted to visit this church - but the visiting hours are so restrictive that it is almost impossible! So I have been to the gate once, and in the neighborhood a few times!!  more »
  • In General, I would like to clarify is not just a church, as stated in the designation of points of interest, this is the monastery of Mary Magdalene with the Temple of Mary Magdalene. The monastery belongs to the Russian zarubezhno Church, the RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH. But for the most part, naselnicy from Russia, so that the difficulties of translation you do not expect. For the most part, the doors of the monastery closed, all allowed on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 10 to 12. But if you are Orthodox and came in overtime, call Bell, and when you answer, tell them you are an Orthodox and want to visit-you will miss. The monastery is situated in the garden of Gethsemane, picturesquely situated on the slopes of the Mount of olives or Olives. The current monastery with a sufficiently large number of nuns, so much of it is closed for visits to the worldly people can often be seen Private plates and cross those boundaries. From the entrance up to the temple is a long winding staircase. calculate force when lifting. At the entrance stands a tray with skirts and scarves for men banned shorts and shirts (shorts offer cover up skirt nazapah-very comical look at our men, but for sure better than the shorts in the Temple), for women should be covered by the shoulders, head, and skirt instead of pants. For Jerusalem Monastery unusual Green-so much greenery and manicured cats you are here ...

  • Beautiful dome, shining gold in the sun, visible from far away. Reminded me of Russian Orthodox churches I saw in Moscov.
  • Where Mary of Magdala saw Jesus being arrested in the garden below. Whote Russians. XIXth c. paintings. Beautiful icons and precious relics, like the bodies of archduchess Elisabetha Fedorovna and her servant, martyred by the Bolsheviks and brought back through Siberia.
  • Visiting hours: Tue, Thu 10-12, and that's it!
  • Every knee shall Bow every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord
  • Very beautiful place

Where to stay in Jerusalem

Although it lacks a big selection of mid-range options, Jerusalem provides plenty of choices in the top-end hotel category. The Old City contains the bulk of Jerusalem's small hotels, inexpensive hostels, and religious hospices, all of which appeal to budget-conscious travelers. West Jerusalem offers additional options in the form of guesthouses and bigger hotels, some of which boast five-star ratings. If you just need a bed, consider a youth hostel, where you can choose between private and common rooms with Wi-Fi included.
