Apollonia National Park, Herzlia

Categories: National Parks, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.4/5 based on 95+ reviews on the web
Surrounding the remains of a 13th-century Crusader fortress, Apollonia National Park offers hiking and picnic opportunities, as well as panoramic views of an ancient Roman villa and the Mediterranean coast. The clifftop ruins, encircled by a wide dry moat, include a collection of genuine ballistae projectiles. The first settlers on the site were Phoenicians in the 6th century BCE, but the earliest remains date back to the Roman period. Take one of the two hiking routes to reach the top: the one for experienced hikers follows the ridge of the cliff, while the other is wheelchair- and stroller-accessible. • The Park is clean and clearly designed. The view is very nice and in good weather one can understand why the fortress here was built (view North/South). You can take a PIC-NIC good there. An insider's Tip: on the South side (outside of the Park, between Park fence and Moshe) has a me unknown artist/craftsman built a fairy tale House in the coastal cliffs. Fabulous, really sensational. I was even lucky enough to look at this fantasy world from the inside. This short detour is worthwhile to.
