Historic Site
The historic site of Stella Maris Lighthouse and Carmelite Monastery stands as a popular pilgrimage spot on the Mount Carmel hillside. The 19th-century monastery and its nearby counterpart where the nuns reside are both run by the Carmelite order, which established itself = here during the Crusades. Admire the vibrant decorations of the main church interior, see the cave where the prophet Elijah supposedly resided, and take in the views of the sea and the old lighthouse, which remains closed to the general public. • This beautiful monastery is build over the upper cave of Elijah. You an go inside and view the cave and sit on the pews. The cave is more of an alcove with an alter built into it.
  • Historical church, few cafes and restaurants around. As well nice view from there
