4.7
National Park · Nature / Park
Visit Timna Park for a rare glimpse of the marvels of ancient engineering coupled with natural desert beauty. The park spans 6,070 hectares (15,000 acres) and includes a host of unusual geological formations like naturally eroded arches and columns. Also within its borders, you can view ancient mining techniques used in the area since as early as the 10th century BCE, when Edomites extracted the resource for use in decorations and weaponry. In addition to touring the premises, you can arrange to rent bikes in the park, camp there overnight, or take pedal boats out on the lake. • Excellently organized park with numerous trails for hiking and biking but also accessible by car for those who just want to visit the main sites. Numerous mountains and hills perfect for climbing (though be aware of the signage, as some of the rocks are dangerous for climbers). The colored sand bottles that can be assembled at the end, near the oasis, are a fun souvenir. Expect to spend 2-3 hours here.
  • Beautiful park with lots of interesting sites to see. At the entrance you'll get a map of the park; this and the signs along the street will guide you well through the park. Plan about a half day, if you drive from place to place, but hiking or renting a bike is more fun and I would rather recommend that.
  • Our second time here, and still plenty to see and do. Huge, majestic rock formations. Ancient temple, and rock engraving. Bicycle trails, and rock climbing. The park is a huge desert valley, you can drive your car between the different locations. Highly recommended.
  • Absolutely worth the money. Very friendly staff which explains everything you need to know about the park. Just be aware that you'll need a car to reach all points of interest. At the end, you'll even have the possibility to create your very own souvenir, which is included in the price of course. Don't miss it!
  • Only 20 km from Eilat you can discover perfect place to drive and hike. Different colours of mountains. Good to take time and and hike some route. We didn’t meet anybody if we hike to canyon, but it was really amazing. Really recommend this place to visit and hike.
