Red Canyon, Eilat
(4.6/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
Enjoy a fairly challenging hike through the narrow, picture-perfect red gorge of Red Canyon. Observe the scenic desert foliage and an array of wildlife as you work your way towards the peak. You'll notice that the iconic red sandstone, in some cases millions of years old, changes color subtly throughout the day. You’ll find that, refreshingly, there are no signs of civilization in sight, giving you the feeling that you are wandering in the middle of the wilderness. Be aware that the hike requires you to climb occasionally, and includes narrow spaces only a few meters wide. Before you head to Eilat, plan trip itinerary details with our user-friendly Eilat itinerary planner, to make sure you see all that Eilat has to offer, including Red Canyon.

  • It is a short but interesting route next to Eilat. Went there with a car, it took ~20 mins from the city.
  • Perfect time to spend outdoors, it is free entrance although not easy to reach without a car (rent ~50€/day). If you are by car just drive road 12 from Eilat and sight with Red canyon will guide you. ...  more »
  • Through a path, you can make a round by the Red Canyon. A fantastic rock where the worn parts nicely into each other. The path is a little more difficult to walk on some parts, but it's well worth it. The colors, the whimsical, everything is beautiful. Nature at its best!

  • Must go when visiting Eilat. Very accessible canyon. Tip: try late afternoon or early morning lighting conditions.
  • Must see if you are visiting Eilat. Whole walk will take approximately 2 hours, but it is definitely worth it. Amazing scenery and fantastic feeling to go through the canyon.
  • Great place near of the Eilat. There are 2 round tracks. Short one can be done with a small children. Other one is 2-2.5 hours long and it is very attractive and not so hard.
  • It is fantastic view early in the morning, but be careful, road to parking is quite bad
  • Beautiful place
