Red Canyon, Eilat

4.7
#5 of 16 in Parks in Eilat
Enjoy a fairly challenging hike through the narrow, picture-perfect red gorge of Red Canyon. Observe the scenic desert foliage and an array of wildlife as you work your way towards the peak. You'll notice that the iconic red sandstone, in some cases millions of years old, changes color subtly throughout the day. You’ll find that, refreshingly, there are no signs of civilization in sight, giving you the feeling that you are wandering in the middle of the wilderness. Be aware that the hike requires you to climb occasionally, and includes narrow spaces only a few meters wide. • Be sure to go. Traveling by rental car. On the road the pointer, the main thing is not to miss. Turn to the right. Then goes to the left quite a bad road, but car passes. Further take map, especially nothing does not help. We went on the Green, the easiest road. A small piece of blue. But faced with the fact that haven't understood-can only go forward on it. On the map as it was not clear that like-if you go straight, 16 km. In the darkness of the risk. Beginning to darken and we went back. But it is very nice and definitely go! And like all write-at sunset!

  • An attraction close to the Eilat 10 m worth. Easy access by car (10 m), or public transport-bus line 393 16 ILS in one page. The bus is in the truth in the middle of the desert, but the freedom to walk transition into and through the park and return to the stop is approximately 2 h. The lack of input ticket is a plus. I recommend as a cheap and easily accessible point of interest in the area of Eilat.

  • This is by far the number one on my list of places to see near Eilat. The Canyon we took fees for 128 shackles, we drove about 30 minutes and i can tell you that it is worth to bring a jacket and, of course, a bottle of water, as it places the wind blows strongly and rehydration worth resemble always in this climate. We arranged with a taxi driver on that receives us at a specific time, so there were losing time on the bus (we were more independent). From the car park to the Canyon's stance are hiking trails, we decided to go to szagę. The views were amazing. Same Canyon did for us big impression. Ladders and handles assist in the exploration of the place. Recommend.

  • Great experience! However you have to wait until the trail is free. There are lots of buses which bring high school students...
  • It was like "small grand canyon" and it was awesome! Free entrance and great experience in December (the weather was great!)
  • Amazing place near Eilat. Its not so hard to walk as it's look like but it's totally worth it. Even people with no experience can do this and the best views are on the end.
  • Wonder place to visit for 2 hours, especially if you follow the black/white trail path once you’ve walked through the red canyon. At one point you may think you can’t go through because there’s a Rocky Mountain blocking your way, but where there’s a will there’s a way! Find the trail and hike your way out of it. The canyon itself is also pretty nice, although it pales compared to Petra!
  • Good one. It's not as spectacular as Antylope Canyon in US, but it's for free, in much nicer area and it's not crowded at all, while in antylope tour with guide goes every 10 minutes. Considering that I think that Red Canyon is very nice experiance and very unexpected one, since it's not very popular.
