Red Canyon, Eilat

4.8
#5 of 21 in Parks in Eilat
Enjoy a fairly challenging hike through the narrow, picture-perfect red gorge of Red Canyon. Observe the scenic desert foliage and an array of wildlife as you work your way towards the peak. You'll notice that the iconic red sandstone, in some cases millions of years old, changes color subtly throughout the day. You’ll find that, refreshingly, there are no signs of civilization in sight, giving you the feeling that you are wandering in the middle of the wilderness. Be aware that the hike requires you to climb occasionally, and includes narrow spaces only a few meters wide. • Red Canyon is an amazing beautiful place! During the fantastic climb and clamber hike bag you deeper and deeper into the canyon in and around is becoming more impressive. In particular (black) route along above the canyon (back to the parking lot) it's fine to wear good shoes, given the sometimes what exciting passages.

  • Beautiful place, unique, original and captivating. Go green trail to the end of the Canyon and back Black Mountain trail and later blue took me fast pace 35. Canyon Itself is very well prepared, has all sorts of help in the form of ladders or degrees. Back mountain I recommend direct sight on the opposite side of the rocks as I saw there are several clusters of animals called "goralki"-a little such marmots

  • Beautiful short hike of about 1 hour. The access path has green trail that goes through the bottom part, and a blue trail that goes through the upper part. Both very easy. The most beautiful part is the following green part which goes through the canyon bottom. It has a few stairs but is easy to follow even for small kids. The you get back via the black trail which follows the upper part of the cliff.
  • 45 minutes of trail, it's a really nice and easy one well indicated. There are some laders to help you to climb. We enjoyed a lot.
  • Amazing colors!! The short path is a little bit more dangerous on the way back so pay attention for you and the children. Always use trekking shoes, much better in terms of safety. The walk inside the canyon itself takes about half hour but worth all the way
  • One of the most beautiful places in the Negev. If you turn out from the main road (there are signs everywhere), you will reach a bit of open space, where you‘ll fond a way to the petrol road, which you’ll have to follow to get to the parking lot. There are lits of hiking trails in the Wadi Shani area but the Red Canyon one is by far the most beautiful one. At first, you’ll have to follow the Wadi, until you reach some red rocks. There is tradition, that if you put a stone in a crack of the rock wall, your wish will come true. After a little walk you‘ll find an entrance to the canyon. From there on you’ll just have to follow the picturesque canyon. Be careful on some of the ladders! On the way up it‘s very dangerous too. But overall, if you’re careful, it‘ll certainly be an amazing geological adventure!
  • A really nice hiking trip. Has to be reached with a car, but then you can spend hours hiking around. There are free maps at the start of the trail and many different routes you can choose from.
