Red Canyon, Eilat

4.7
#5 of 16 in Parks in Eilat
Enjoy a fairly challenging hike through the narrow, picture-perfect red gorge of Red Canyon. Observe the scenic desert foliage and an array of wildlife as you work your way towards the peak. You'll notice that the iconic red sandstone, in some cases millions of years old, changes color subtly throughout the day. You’ll find that, refreshingly, there are no signs of civilization in sight, giving you the feeling that you are wandering in the middle of the wilderness. Be aware that the hike requires you to climb occasionally, and includes narrow spaces only a few meters wide. • Did the shortest route, i.e., started at the Green and went to the parking lot. The track itself is short and fun, with ladders and spikes to diversity. But even though he is set to track families, is really not suitable for small children-although a little boy can do it, but there are parts where if the child leaves the railing is falling far below, and there is no way to secure it. Also unable to back up when you realize it the situation down the road when it comes to Greece after ladders that can move in only one direction (if we knew, we were trying to go back at the end of the runway, to remain always under the child in case something happens). Personally really afraid for the child (5 years old) in the Highlands. Lord he was disciplined and did everything securely, but if he decides to be naughty like him sometimes. Reasonably fit can make the track with Yuka.

  • If someone has not a lot of time and want to experience something in addition to a swimming or diving holiday in Eilat, then is highly recommendable Red Canyon. Tip: do not book with an expensive tour provider. We have agreed with a taxi driver that he us from Eilat to the Red Canyon brings, there 1 hour waiting and then again driving to Eilat with us. We have paid NIS 250. Important: the taxi driver to drive (approx. 1 km from the road No. 12) not at the parking lot next to the road the car turn off no. 12, but at the lower parking lot.

  • It's worth visiting the free Canyon. 20 minutes from Eilat to the 12 near the Egyptian border Schottern trail leads up to the parking lot. There are three routes differently. It is necessary because a few shoots and ladders down green path leads after ca 500m through the canyon Is already pretty spectacular. At the end of the canyon after about 30 minutes you can then along the black path above along steps kicks and railings back to the entrance and then from there a blue path to the car park back. Everything in the all time ca. 1 h. You could follow the old riverbed also ca 17 km further up to the B90.

  • super nice rocks, super nice trails. Must go hiking trail in israel. We hiked through the easiest trail that took about an hour. It is very fun. Admire while you walk the vastness of these place. Amazing
  • Upon entering, you will surely be picked up from the mailbox map sidewalks. It's a wonderful place to delight the eye and spirit. It's not a difficult hike, I recommend it for families with children, only you'd better take along drinking more water.
  • WOW! Beautiful place. The hike is very short but a bit challenging with steep ladders. Very recommended for families.
  • Great place to visit on the way to Eilat( proximetly 1.5 hours which is perfect for kids 5-14)
  • Beautiful scenery. The drive from Eilat is spectacular and makes the adventure even more worthwhile. A great way to spend time outdoors.
