Qumran Caves, Dead Sea Region

3.9
#4 of 7 in Parks in Dead Sea Region
Visit the archaeological complex of Qumran Caves, a series of caverns where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. The caves, some of them natural and some manmade, were the location where the ancient scrolls, some of the oldest manuscripts of the Hebrew Bible, were found in 1947. Bring plenty of water and suitable footwear to explore the historic caves and the surrounding ruins of the Qumran settlement. • It is in these caves have been discovered the writings of the dead sea. Unfortunately, research is ongoing, and access to these caves is prohibited. In place, you can discover the life led by the inhabitants of the village which was built at the foot of these caves, and who have made all of these manuscripts. Interesting.

  • It is the site of the discovery of the famous Dead Sea Scrolls of the Essenes and the village community. You can clearly see the structure and is very interesting. Where to stay in Jerusalem

Although it lacks a big selection of mid-range options, Jerusalem provides plenty of choices in the top-end hotel category. The Old City contains the bulk of Jerusalem's small hotels, inexpensive hostels, and religious hospices, all of which appeal to budget-conscious travelers. West Jerusalem offers additional options in the form of guesthouses and bigger hotels, some of which boast five-star ratings. If you just need a bed, consider a youth hostel, where you can choose between private and common rooms with Wi-Fi included.
