Mount of Beatitudes, Capernaum
Categories: Historic Sites, Tourist Spots
Visit Mount of Beatitudes, believed to be where Jesus delivered his Sermon on the Mount. Remains of an old Byzantine church dating back to the fourth century prove that Christians have been commemorating this site for over 1,600 years. Today, a humble Roman Catholic church sits on top of the hill, and it is here that Pope John Paul II celebrated mass in March of 2000. The church is surrounded by beautifully maintained gardens and a captivating view of the Sea of Galilee.
