Capharnaum the Town of Jesus, Capernaum
(4.6/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Visit Capharnaum the Town of Jesus, an ancient village that Jesus visited after he left his hometown of Nazareth. A number of apostles lived near the village, which gets a mention in all four of the New Testament gospels, and it was supposedly the place where Jesus established his base for preaching and performed healings. Admire the fourth-century synagogue, one of the world’s oldest, as well as a variety of ruins and artifacts from the Roman period. • Capernaum is the village site on the sea of Galilee, where Peter and other disciples chosen by Jesus. Being located more than 200 meters below sea level in the summer it is very hot, so it is advisable to gear up with Hat and light clothing. There are the remains of the village, especially of Peter's House and buildings erected from there as places of worship and prayer by the early Christians. Also of interest is the synagogue where he preached Jesus and the modern church which commemorates the many miracles in that area. The view of the sea of Galilee is magnificent, as well as the statue of St Peter's Basilica and the archaeological remains around the town at the time. To visit and to meditate at length
