Aqueduct Beach, Caesarea

4.6
#3 of 14 in Things to do in Caesarea
Dating back to the rule of Herod, Aqueduct Beach provides a glimpse into thousands of years of local history. Part of ancient city infrastructure, the aqueduct supplied water to Caesarea for over 1,000 years. Today, visitors can walk through part of the underground tunnel--dress appropriate for moist spaces, and expect water to reach all the day up to your knees. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Caesarea holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Aqueduct Beach and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • Beautiful water gang with the backdrop of the sea. Wonderful for sunset. Ingenious how this has developed far ahead of the era

  • The aqueduct of Caesarea is more or less anywhere in the nowhere. The remaining part is in good condition and runs parallel to the coastline. The Romans have understood something of architecture, and even 2000 years later you must respect them for it. Very impressive. The beach itself is sandy and light as so often in Israel. There are sufficient parking spaces - if one is nearby, worth a stop on all cases.

  • It's a beach; there aren't any toilets or showers and if you drown that's your problem. There is shade however, in the form of wooden roofs on poles, which are reasonably wide and pretty, and that's great! The sand is thin, there are a few seashells, and getting in the water is quite safe (no rocks, corals or tangling sea weed).
  • Beautiful beach on the Mediterranean sea. There are aqeducts around the beach which are thousands of years old, built to carry the water into the city. The beach is pretty clean and you can take a walk around. However there are no eateries around (might be the reason of cleanliness) as well as there are no restrooms available. You can visit this beach to watch a beautiful sunset if you are visiting Haifa.
  • Nice beach...with amazing old Roman aqueducts, but there are missing two important things: toilets/showers and changings rooms.
  • A very historic sight. Plenty of parking. Great pictures!
  • I was surprised to find out that there's "zero" toilet or dressing room around here at all ... Plus there's not even a "shower" area for people washing up with fresh water after swimming???
