Wicklow Golf Club was formed in 1904, it began as a nine hole course, and continued as a nine hole until 1994, when it was extended to an 18 hole course. The new Club house was built in 2002 to bring the club and course right up to date with the growing standards around the country.

Wicklow Golf Club broke ranks with the rest of the county Clubs by having Ladys as full members from the very beginning. Ladies also attended and voted at the meeting of the 14th October 1904, at which Wicklow Golf Club was formally constituted In 1906 the Dublin, Wicklow, and Wexford Railway Company sponsored the first Open Mixed Foursomes Competition to be run by the Club.

Three Films have been shot on and around the Wicklow Golf Course, namely John Boorman’s “Excalibur”, Pierce Brosnan’s “Taffin”, and more recently “Reign of Fire” which starred Mathew Mc Coughnaty. Today the Course is among the most scenic in the country, and boasts great views along the east coast. With the rugged cliffs and rolling fairways.

  • One of the finest courses I have ever had the pleasure to play. The greens were magnificent and the course generally was first class. The staff were tremendous and afforded our party a very warm welcome, we can't wait to return! Tom McGinley, Manager, Glen East Links, North Berwick.
  • A real challenge, fabulous views from every shot , great value green fees, you could be in California ( on a sunny day ) Looking forward to playing again soon. The clubhouse had a nice atmosphere & also fantastic views out to sea.
  • A great golf course which would suit most abilities. Very scenic with views across the bay. Some nice challenging holes and plenty of variety. Clubhouse is very good with panoramic views of the course.
  • People try to kill you with their clubs when you just want to cross to see the seals. But a nice talkative guy from the staff helped us not to be killed by the stupid wealthy bastards.
  • Course is in good condition especially given the time of the year. It's a relatively short course but holes are tricky with tight fairways. Group of 8 and everyone enjoyed the round, the views are amazing. There's a nice bar/restaurant in the clubhouse.
