  • The Wicklow way is still underestimated despite increasing awareness by many distance hikers. This has the advantage that it meets at least outside high season hardly other hikers. Already at the beginning of the path, walk through the beautifully landscaped Marlay Park on the outskirts of Dublin. This is followed by the ascent to the Dublin mountain, where you can enjoy wonderful views over the capital. The main part of the route begins the vast Powerscourt waterfall. The wanderer is brought close some main peaks of Wicklow-massive. A highlight of the trail is the monastery of Glendalough, which represents the Wicklows landmark and one of Ireland's top tourist attractions. When weather is nice, it is accordingly but also very busy. You can find the opposite later in Glenmalure, a sleepy nest in the middle of the mountains with only a few inhabitants and a waterfall, which can take on almost the Powerscourt. More and more the typical landscape of Ireland, many farms, and a myriad of sheep grazing will then. Especially in March and April there can be seen the young lambs at the around great. The pungent yellow gorse bushes here create an almost cheesy overall. Particularly muddy passages were entschäft, an image which is particularly strong shapes up on the Wicklow way by partially kilometer-long planks. The signage is continuously and recorded in its entirety. However distances given are listed on the signs very rarely and the infrastructure in particular in terms of buses is very poorly developed, which is why you should plan its stages taking account of the very changeable weather well. For overnight some hostels are offered, which are distributed directly on the way. If you want something more comfortable can stay, however, BB´s B & B, which generally must meet a very high standard in Ireland. The owners pick up however against a small tip very much by the way the hiker and bring him back the next day. All in all is warmly to be merited, which brings the hiker close the fantastic Irish nature as well as the warm Irish culture in an unparalleled way of the Wicklow way.
