Russborough House, Wicklow

4.5
Visit Russborough House, which many consider to be one of the most beautiful houses in Ireland. The stately residence was built between 1741 and 1755 and boasts stunning interior decor. During your award-winning house tour, be sure to direct your attention overhead to examine the ornate plasterwork on the ceilings by the Lafranchini brothers, and don't miss the paintings by Claude Joseph Vernet. The 3D exhibit features fascinating photographs from the early 1900s and cinema footage from Sir Alfred and Lady Beit's travels. Kids will love the playground and hedge maze, and sheepdog performances are sure to entertain the whole family. Be sure to try the tasty home-baked goods in the tea room, too. • The house tour was better than others. These Ascendancy houses are privately run and unregulated so what you get is pot luck. Depends on the individual guide; in this case good, adults - 14 euros + parking. Good circuit walk in the grounds.
  • Amazing house and gardens. Beautiful views and walks. On a dry day is an excellent location to bring the family.
  • We were there on a wet day, it would be ideal on a warm summers day. It has a lovely walk, interesting for children. It's got a maze, blacksmiths forge, a playground, the house itself & a lovely cafe etc.
  • Nice house and grounds but a bit much being charged eur3 each to visit the dilapidated maze. Food was good however as were the facilities.
  • A beautiful place to visit not far from blessington lakes so it's surrounded by lovely scenery. You can do a tour of the house and they also have a maze. If you just want to go to have a wander around the grounds you can and they have a great play area for the children looking onto fields with sheep. They've plenty of parking which is only 2euro with no time constriction. Beautiful place to visit but preferably on a sunny day to really appreciate it's surroundings.
