Art Museum Historic Site
Visit Russborough House, which many consider to be one of the most beautiful houses in Ireland. The stately residence was built between 1741 and 1755 and boasts stunning interior decor. During your award-winning house tour, be sure to direct your attention overhead to examine the ornate plasterwork on the ceilings by the Lafranchini brothers, and don't miss the paintings by Claude Joseph Vernet. The 3D exhibit features fascinating photographs from the early 1900s and cinema footage from Sir Alfred and Lady Beit's travels. Kids will love the playground and hedge maze, and sheepdog performances are sure to entertain the whole family. Be sure to try the tasty home-baked goods in the tea room, too. • Absolutely beautiful place. Well worth going and spending the day there. You could simply walk around the grounds and have a picnic (free) or pay and have a tour of the house or do the maze. Plenty of food offered on site. Good day out
  • A nice place to spend some time in the open. A lot of interesting things to see, including a maze, playground, museum, bird exhibit and crafts. Or you can just go for a walk. Very nice indeed.
  • 'Big house' in Irish parlance; this has everything. Google it and go. Hey if you are from UK don't expect a funfair or zoo ( but there is an impressive collection of cruel but beautiful birds of prey) . Serious art, archicture and antiques. Not cheap with charges for entrance and tour but you are helping upkeep of this wonderful resource.
  • Spent the afternoon there, had a wonderful time. Excellent exhibits about previous owners and their lifestyles. Lovely tour of the house. Next time Birds of Prey, Walled gardens. Also plenty for kids with a maze and playground.
  • Lovely walks around the house and the rhododendron gardens are stunning when in bloom. House tour is very enjoyable and our tour guide was very knowledgeable. Cafe is a nice treat after a good walk.
