Russborough House, Wicklow
(4.5/5 based on 340+ reviews on the web)
Visit Russborough House, which many consider to be one of the most beautiful houses in Ireland. The stately residence was built between 1741 and 1755 and boasts stunning interior decor. During your award-winning house tour, be sure to direct your attention overhead to examine the ornate plasterwork on the ceilings by the Lafranchini brothers, and don't miss the paintings by Claude Joseph Vernet. The 3D exhibit features fascinating photographs from the early 1900s and cinema footage from Sir Alfred and Lady Beit's travels. Kids will love the playground and hedge maze, and sheepdog performances are sure to entertain the whole family. Be sure to try the tasty home-baked goods in the tea room, too. • Ideal place for families. House worth exploring, interesting family history. Nice cafe to have lunch or a cup of coffee in August. Children will appreciate the children's playground. A place worth seeing.

  • Great place. Well maintained. Loved the maze outside. However, the personal tour was the best thing. Would highly recommend.
  • Beautiful spot. My kids love the playground and the fairy garden. We love the walks, especially the Rhododendron walk. Nice food- caters for gluten free. Mid-range prices. Remember to bring €2 in coins to pay in to car park.
  • Really interesting house and history very ably shared by a wonderful guide. Well worth a visit. There is a coffee shop/cafe, craft shops and walks in the grounds. Very easy to occupy the best part of a day here.
  • Beautiful grounds for a quiet walk. The house is lovely to tour. The restaurant is nice but very pricey. There's a coffee shop and ice cream parlour. Local crafts and artisans also work out of the grounds and are worth a look. The playground is fantastic and all more than worth the €2 parking charge.
  • Old grand house..tick! Beautiful landscape...tick! Lovely gardens...tick! good Café with outside seating...tick! Great way to spend a lazy afternoon? you bet!
