  • Not much left of the castle built into the rock. Was raining the day we visited and the surface was slippy under foot. It was nice to chill out for a moment and listen to the crashing waves below. Mig...  more »

  • Ruins of a small clifftop castle with a gorgeous view of the Wicklow coastline (ruined only by golf and litterbugs). Lovely place to stop and think, show the kids some old cannons, walk the small pier and see a working port in action
  • We came on a cloudy/misty day but it was still very scenic. Just a quick stop to spend a half hour or so.
  • Nice place to visit when passing through the area.
  • It worth to climb the hill for the view on the coast and the sea. Anyway, there is not much left from the castle.
  • The black castle in wicklow is not so much a castle as 2 pinicles of stone. They are all that remain of various versions of a castle that stood there since possiblity viking times. Its got amazing views and is a link to Wicklows ancient past.
