Celtic and Prehistoric Museum, Ventry
(3.9/5 based on 190+ reviews on the web)
Celtic and Prehistoric Museum offers a different kind of historical experience, with collections dating back thousands of years. Harris Moore founded this private museum about 10 years ago and filled six rooms with fascinating artifacts, including objects from the Jurassic, Stone and Bronze Ages, as well as the Celtic and Viking eras. You have the chance to see the only intact wooly mammoth skull in Ireland, with its tusks still attached, as well as a complete baby dinosaur skeleton, a large nest of dinosaur eggs, and a cave bear skeleton. • A small, but well organized display of Celtic and pre-Celtic artifacts. The individual items were carefully mounted, and explained in some detail. A stop worthy of attention.
