Place of pilgrimage from all over Ireland by reason of the precious relic was vandalizzazioni during the period, and became notorious for his burial place with a cemetery built in the aisles of rifled. In the mid-20th century with a speech of the Parliament of the newly formed Republic of Ireland, the ruins were restored to their former glory (at least the Abbey Church), preserving instead all their charm in the cloister and monastic buildings along the river semidiruto. The Chboesa with its massive central tower and transept was rebuilt with the original stones with buttresses and preserves large Windows, seats and grey stone local niches of wonderful workmanship, and then the reliquary with the remnants of the true cross, exposed to the veneration along with other less ancient relic donated by the Pope on the occasion of the reconstruction. For the historical significance and the suggestion of places is not seco from other Abbeys remain ruins in this part of Ireland. Definitely worth a stop, especially if you are on the road to Cashel, just a few kilometres away.
