Jerpoint Park, Thomastown

4.7
#6 of 16 in Historic Sites in Kilkenny
Get a breath of fresh air at Jerpoint Park, a historical spot filled with wildlife and impressive old trees. Walk among the oaks, chestnuts, limes, and beeches, and keep an eye out for birds. If you are feeling adventurous, take advantage of the park's "tracker packs," which include binoculars, a compass, and a magnifying glass. Watch a sheepdog demonstration and observe how the dog and its owner communicate and work together to herd sheep. This site also makes a perfect fishing spot--ask about the wild salmon and brown trout fishing. In June, I was with friends in Thomastown in the beautiful park of Jerpoint, and Church. Because I often was in Ireland, I wanted to see what's new. Here this place was recommended to me. What I found very good is that there was even a German-speaking guide with John. This took us through the beautiful garden and we could lead us figuratively in mind, as it looked in ancient times here. It was a very important place. Even Santa Claus was buried there. John has a very interesting stories, and I can only recommend it
