Ring of Kerry Golf Club, Templenoe

#5 of 11 in Outdoors in Kenmare
Bring your "A" game to Ring of Kerry Golf Club, where you can play a challenging course with outstanding views of Kenmare Bay. Nestled between the Caha Mountains and MacGillycuddy Reeks, the course represents one of the final projects by Eddie Hackett, a legendary architect who described his design process as an attempt to "dress up what the Good Lord provides." Hackett's appreciation for natural landscapes remains evident in this course, where the scenery works with the layout to provide a memorable setting for golf. The club bar/restaurant serves pizza and burgers with more exceptional views. • Who knew this would be a highlight of our trip?!?! We made a reservation to play 9-holes (options offered are for 9 holes or 18 holes ... I'm not a great golfer but that didn't matter). From Kenmare, ...  more »

  • Great views from the Golf course over the bay and the mountains on Beara Peninsula. Not a golfer, just came for the holiday homes. Which are highly recommended, too! Best holiday homes we've had on our 4 week Ireland holiday.
  • What can I say about this golf course. There is always a nice friendly welcome from James in the Pro shop or in the beautiful refurbished clubhouse. The course in challenging but fair with a great variation of holes. The greens and fairways were in great condition considering it was early March when I played my rounds. The views across Kenmare Bay on this course are stunning. They will take your breath away. I love this course and the welcoming atmosphere that oozes from every aspect of the place. It is like a little piece of heaven..!! A quick word about the clubhouse...it is stunning whether you sit on the terrace in the sun or sit upstairs looking across Kenmare Bay from the large window with a pint of Guinness. Give the place a visit..you will not regret it.
  • The best view you could possibly imagine awaits you here! The restaurant is so bright, clean, refreshing and inviting, then you meet the staff and it just gets better. They are so welcoming and accommodating. The menu is fabulous, something for everyone. The kids menu was outstanding with so much choice for all ages. The atmosphere was fantastic, there was a large birthday party on at the time and it really made the vibe more and more welcome. The staff did mention that due to the large party, there may be a delay. We didn't even notice any delay because we were absolutely gobsmacked with the view. Just as we thought it couldn't get any better....The food arrived! Outstanding is all I can say!! The burger is out of this world! See picture attached. The chips were the best I've had in years. The chicken was amazing! The desserts were just as good! Waffles to die for. Please take time to take in Greens in the Ring of Kerry golf club, I promise you will not be disappointed.
  • My dad and I had a great round of golf, and we were taken care of by James, who is very friendly and funny. This is a challenging course, but we wanted something authentic while in Ireland, and it didn't disappoint. Food was great as well, and we enjoyed the recently remodelled clubhouse.
  • Nice clubhouse. Views great.
