Glencar Lake, Sligo
Categories: Bodies of Water, Nature & Parks
The 8 km (5 mi) of Glencar Lake let you experience ample trails around the Irish countryside. Follow the short trail near the lake to the northeast corner, where you'll find a 15 m (49.2 ft) waterfall featured in some of William Butler Yeats' poetry. Fish for trout and salmon in the lake, and stop for a picnic at one of the many scenic spots. Wear suitable footwear if you're hiking up to the best viewpoints, as the wet conditions can make it quite slippery. Paths to the waterfall are wheelchair accessible.
