Cemetery Ruin
Explore one of Ireland's largest and oldest cemeteries of megalithic tombs at Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery. The site is home to over 60 tombs, some up to 5,000 years old; 30 monuments are visible today. Begin your visit at the information center, where an exhibition helps provide the context for this ancient complex. Once you've learned about the area's rich history, set off for the Listoghill cairn, the focal point of the cemetery, surrounded by smaller satellite tombs. Wear sensible shoes, as the area features uneven terrain. The site can be quite challenging for those with mobility problems. • Worth a look, and a nice place to walk. But I think you'd have to be into history in a big way to really appreciate it.
  • Definitely do the tour! Our guide was great and gave many insights we wouldn't otherwise have gotten!
  • Fascinating, good visitors centre with barrier free accessibility. Access to the megalithic structures is over grass, no paved walkways. Some areas may not be accessible to people in wheelchairs due to gates.
  • A great place for those, who love ancient stories and want to meditate in tranquility.
  • Carrowmore was an awesome stop and a must do. The prices are very reasonable and you can easily spend a couple of hours or more here. The trails are grassy, so our shoes got a little wet, so hiking boots might have been better. Overall this is an amazing place. Go here and be amazed!
