  • Although a wet windy day, we visited the Lough along with local family. It is truly tranquil and preserved to remain so. A local school group was in the area - great to see practical use of a natural ...  more »
  • Great place for a walk around lake and climp to top through forest. Worth the effort for the view at top on good clear day
  • A beautiful place that we have visited many times when in Ireland. Great for swimming if you like cold water! Easy walking with babies and small children.

  • Beautiful place, perfect for a short hill walk over looking a spectacular lake. Also there is a nature trail to follow for those who need more entertainment out of woods
  • You can walk up the forest hill to a vantage point that gives great views all around. The walk itself is gorgeous. As a foreigner you expect gnomes of fairies to live here. It is a walk with some steep climbing up stairs but well worth it. Shame there is no pub or coffee house around.
  • Unusual lake which is directly linked to the sea and is tidal. I think the tide comes in for hours but takes eight hours to retreat. The loch is beautiful and is also a recommended swimming spot. There's an exhibition about the rare or unusual habitat of the loch in the skibberean heritage centre in the town.
  • Nice walk in the Woods, not long, what style, but refreshing during a heat wave in Ireland
