  • One of the hidden gems in Ireland for sure. This castle has a tremendous history and Seán and his family have done a wonderful job with its restoration. The tour is mostly self guided so you can take ...  more »

  • You won't be disappointed by a visit here, if it's fireside storytelling with a dash of tin whistle playing you're looking for. Seán has history on the castle, the area, the families that lived there and more. The bloody chapel is a few flights up a twisty staircase. As it was such a beautiful day, I didn't find it eerie but would love to go back at Halloween. We loved our visit to this place with a welcoming host and some shy ghosts.
  • Thank you Sean for letting us in! It was one of the most magic experiences in our journey to Ireland, not because of ghost stories around your place, but for the delicious luck to know you and to enjoy your warm hospitality. You truly are "the presence" in there. To travelers: don't miss this step on your way...
  • Sean (the owner/caretaker/resident) is great and full of knowledge. He's happy to chat with guests and share the history of the castle and the area.
  • I was extremely disappointed with my visit to Leap Castle. You are only allowed to go up to the 'bloody chapel' which is just a large room at the top of a staircase. While up there you can look out the window at the surrounding views. That is it. The owner wouldn't allow us to explore the grounds (which had a lot of rubbish). He didn't even tell much about the history of the castle. He just quickly explained why most of the castle was destroyed. I recommend saving your 6 euros and just reading the history of the castle online and visiting Blarney Castle or Cahir Castle.
  • A great experience. Sean is very knowledgeable on the jistory of the castle and is a great storyteller. Played some great music on the tin whistle. You need to call beforehand to make sure he is home.
