Glen Keen Farm & Visitor Centre, Louisburgh

Farm · Tourist Spot
Opened July 10th 2014. The Glen Keen Sheep Farm, Visitor Centre & Café is unique in Ireland, due to its size, location and natural beauty. Glen Keen is one of the largest farms in Irelands agri-tourism offering, over 1,400 acres in size, this single family-owned sheep farm with a commonage footprint that extends to over 5,500 acres is larger than some national parks. The farm is stunning with waterfalls and breathtaking valleys of the Carrowniskey River, which forges, through the centre of the property and is bound by the Sheeffry and Mweelrea mountain ranges on the south side of the property, serving as pillars to the Delphi Valley. • Most beautiful mountain place. The sheep dogs are so well trained and FASTER than wind. The hosts are warmest, most welcoming family. Breathtaking view.
  • Excellent place to stop! Sheep hearding demonstration and the food is top notch! Some of the friendliest people you will ever meet.
  • Great afternoon out, first had a sheep herding demonstration from George and his three lovely dogs , then a Q&A session which could have lasted the rest of the afternoon, but we were summoned to complementary tea and scones, with jam and cream, they were excellent. Whilst we were eating and drinking, we were treated to Brendan playing some traditional Irish music on many different musical instruments, members of the group were invited to help Brendan by playing (with his help) some of the instruments he had to hand. We then visited the well stocked gift shop. We then boarded the coach and were waved off by the owner and staff. Great people and a great afternoon out. Well worth the journey.
  • Loved it! Owned by the same family for generations, now run by a delightful daughter named Catherine. Sheep dog herding demonstrations followed by warm scones. Lovely views and a nice gift shop.
  • The sheep herding demo was entertaining and informative. Cafe food was tasty. Some cute items on the gift shop.
