  • Absolutely superb experience. It's a self-guided tour following a defined path through the exhibits and the Castle. The tour begins with various indoor displays and interactive presentations. The history of the Castle is explained and various characters introduced. The second part of the tour takes you to some of the excavations of the foundations, the exhibits in the courtyard and the towers. The view of the Shannon River and the City of Limerick is superb. This is an absolute must-do if you visit Limerick. You need a good 90 minutes to two hours to take it all in. Of course, the exit is via the bookshop where you can find all sorts of souvenirs, guide books and history books. There's a restaurant available too. The Castle itself is deeply embedded in Irish history even though it was never visited by King John.
  • I don't get the other reviews. This is by fare the mist loveless tourist rip off castle (12€) I saw by fare. And I saw many castle's, temple's and palaces world wide. Do NOT visit this one and pay 12€ for that... The good reviews here are a lie or made by clueless reviewers who doesn't know what a beautiful castle or tour is.
  • The castle honestly isn't massive. What's amazing is the historical significance of this place. It's over 700 years old a preserved so good it's amazing! The tour around the castle can honestly be done within an hour so make sure to have more planned for your day.
  • Great castle. Definitely worth your time and money. Very steep steps so could be tricky if you not 100% mobile.
  • Well worth the entry fee. Fun and informative presentation of local history as well as interesting rooms to explore.
