View the personal collection of the Hunt family at Hunt Museum, housed inside an 18th-century customs house. John and Gertrude Hunt were antique dealers and collectors devoted to artifacts from Ireland's past. Some of the oldest pieces date back to the Stone Age, but the highlights of the collection are the Irish objects from the medieval period as well as the Mary Queen of Scots cross in the jewelry gallery. Each part of the collection is displayed in refurbished rooms, taking advantage of the building's original architecture. The historical museum sits where the east quays begin, and a small marina is nearby; you'll recognize it by its gray stone exterior. Join one of the daily guided tours, or stroll through the rooms on your own. • We had read about this small musuem housed in the historic Customs House, and it did not disappoint. Our only regret is that we could have spent far more time there than we had. Highly recommnded.

  • Had some extra time in Limerick so went to this museum. Consist of 3 floor with mostly old artifacts from Irleland and the area.

  • Passing by we decided to visit this well-known Limerick landmark. Senior rates are available. Reception told us that a free tour had just begun and we said we'd join it. What a great decision that...

  • The Hunt Museum holds a major collection of silverware of the highest quality including the mask of James Joyce. It was built on certain themes by the Hunt family which was at first a private collection . It is truly remarkable if you receive a guided tour there as it will illuminate the quality of the paintings and the treasures they hold for the astute visitor.
  • Really enjoyed our visit to the Hunt Museum. Very well laid out and explained. There is an amazing range of exhibits covering a huge time span. Nice cafe and toilets too.
  • There is an article that on Sunday's is free for adults. THAT IS NOT THE CASE. 11euros for 2 adults. The museum was worth visiting. But needs to make sure all articles posted have the correct information.
  • It's a lovely museum, though my experience was soured by a member of staff who refused to give me student admission and thought that I was lying about it and didn't see a point to it because of the 50 cent price difference. While I can understand it, it's a rude to say to someone you don't know especially when you have no idea of their economic background. It was just unnecessary and made the experience unpleasant.
  • We saw a lot but much was closed. Here are our captures. My wife did well in her wheelchair. Very warm, enriching experience.
