View the personal collection of the Hunt family at Hunt Museum, housed inside an 18th-century customs house. John and Gertrude Hunt were antique dealers and collectors devoted to artifacts from Ireland's past. Some of the oldest pieces date back to the Stone Age, but the highlights of the collection are the Irish objects from the medieval period as well as the Mary Queen of Scots cross in the jewelry gallery. Each part of the collection is displayed in refurbished rooms, taking advantage of the building's original architecture. The historical museum sits where the east quays begin, and a small marina is nearby; you'll recognize it by its gray stone exterior. Join one of the daily guided tours, or stroll through the rooms on your own. This is a must see Museum/gallery in Limerick and worth making a special trip there to view. It’s housed in a fabulous building and the volunteer staff are a mine of information. The eccentric eclectic collection is fabulous and there are just enough exhibits on display to make it interesting without overload. The cafe is also very good.

A great and quite eclectic museum that is a real benefit to Limerick city and value to Ireland. The Collection is very much the result of two people's lifelong interest coupled with the means and opportunities to pursue those interests. Some minor aspects like paintwork and item cards could do with a refresh but this is a very enjoyable two hour visit in a great building and location. I particularly enjoyed the current contemporary Irish ceramics mini exhibition this time around and would like to see the museum pursue this area in future.

Coffee and scones were very nice, cafe surroundings were alright. One of the staff members behind counter left a lot to be desired, I suppose it was a bit early for her. All other staff members were outstanding and curtious. Really good place to visit. ENJOY!
