St. Mary's Cathedral, Killarney
(4.6/5 based on 420 reviews on the web)
Admire the combination of architectural influences at St. Mary's Cathedral. This Gothic cathedral is partly designed after Ireland's medieval churches. The brown-and-gray stonework and three stained-glass lancet windows represent traditional Irish features added by local architects. Visit the church between services to inspect the fine work inside. Consider observing a service to fully appreciate the somber beauty of the chapel. • A true gem is St. Mary's Cathedral. Beautiful and just a short walk from the town center, St. Mary's immediately brought to mind the Bells of St. Mary's. Inside is just as beautiful and this should be...  more »
  • Main St in downtown area... from New St... to straight into the West 7-8 minutes ' walk and you will see is the highest church tower on your right. 1855, is a magnificent building of neo-Gothic style. Sharp Spire stabbing into the sky was impressive. Interior renovated in 1973, and the new, bright atmosphere. Behind the altar, reach the floor-to-ceiling stained glass was most impressive. Places to see in the city even in base for exploring Killarney is not much, but this church is one of very few.

  • Make sure you stop here! Very pretty. Some altar pieces are contemporary, an interesting blend with the older stuff. Very majestic cathedral.
