The National Transport Museum of Ireland is based in the grounds of Howth Castle in Ireland.The museum is located in the Heritage Depot, Howth Demesne, Howth, Ireland (entry is via gates to Deer Park Hotel). 60 vehicles are currently in Howth on display. The oldest items date from second half of the 19th century, the newest 1984. It features buses, lorries, trucks, fire engines, trams and tractors. Also exhibited is the restored Hill of Howth No.9 Tram.The museum is run on a voluntary basis, and is funded by a minimal entry fee, unlike The National Museum, National Gallery and National History museums, who are funded by government.

  • We had imagined something different among them. 4 euros, you get insight into a warehouse, so crammed with cars that you can not look at all. The vehicles rot away. I think that the sight of such vehicles is pressing not only tears of joy in the eyes of a collector or car fan.

  • A nice place for coupling with visit of the Castle. The caretaker is an old man very sympathetic. The means are too close sometimes and not at all you can climb but it's a nice trip to the past.

  • A lovely quaint museum, a disgrace it's not state funded, as it's clearly doing the very best it can in a small space

  • Like the way it wasn't that organised and the way it wasn't very "safe". Great to see all these vehicles.
