Loftus Hall, Hook Head

4.0
#3 of 14 in Historic Sites in County Wexford
Historic Site Tourist Spot
Tour the spooky Loftus Hall, an abandoned house claimed to be haunted by a young woman's ghost and the devil himself. The current structure was built in the 19th century, though the property has been used since the Middle Ages. The house features a spectacular staircase; the only other known staircases of this design are in the sunken Titanic ship and inside the Vatican. You can take guided tours, or rent a bike and ride around the Hook peninsula. • Take a tour of Irelands most haunted house so I'm told. I did the tour and I have to say it was great fun. Tour guide was brilliant and delivered her story lines perfect which adds to the suspense of what might happen to you next! And after to settle your nerves there is a coffee shop which serves food.
  • We really enjoyed our tour. Our guide was very informative and the house is CREEPY. Some really spooky things happened to us while we were there and even throughout the evening when we were back in Wexford. The locals completely believe the place is haunted too. I recommend watching the Ghost Adventures episode after you go. It will FREAK you out. Still gives me the chills nearly 2 years later!!
  • Loftus Hall is a must see if you are visiting the Hook Head Peninsula area which is in itself a beautiful place. Very historic and the tours are very enjoyable and informative especially if you have an interest in haunted Ireland. The day tours are an all family event while the night tours are adults only and with good reason. However, if you really want the full paranormal experience the "Lockdowns" are for you. They take place from approx 8.30pm - 03.00am and are conducted by professional paranormal investigators and begin with a tour of the house and it's background which is given by the owner himself - a very friendly and likeable guy who makes you very welcome while the house itself gives you goose bumps. During the Lockdown you get to spend time in rooms and areas that are not accessible on the other tours, and full participation is encouraged by the P. I. Team. It is, in essence, a legitimate paranormal investigation which includes all the professional paranormal equipment and techniques and definitely not for the faint hearted! However, it is an unique experience in an amazing historic and strangely beautiful House and grounds and I would highly recommend the Lockdowns to anyone with a penchant for the paranormal and the regular tours to those who prefer the lights on!
  • Fantastic place to visit with amazing history going back to 12th century. Perfect for the whole family 👪
  • The kids really enjoyed the tour. Would have liked to have seen more of the house though. Never mentioned the baby in the wall of the tapestry room.
