Loftus Hall, Hook Head

(4.1/5 based on 480+ reviews on the web)
Tour the spooky Loftus Hall, an abandoned house claimed to be haunted by a young woman's ghost and the devil himself. The current structure was built in the 19th century, though the property has been used since the Middle Ages. The house features a spectacular staircase; the only other known staircases of this design are in the sunken Titanic ship and inside the Vatican. You can take guided tours, or rent a bike and ride around the Hook peninsula. By using our Hook Head family vacation planner, you can arrange your visit to Loftus Hall and other attractions in Hook Head.

  • This is one creepy place. I brought 3 kids to Loftus Hall and they loved it. The staff giving the tour are excellent. Well worth a visit if you are in the area and looking for something to entertain the kids for a while on a wet day. The adults also enjoyed the experience. Note - coins are needed for the car-park.
  • Well worth a visit for many reasons. Our guide Stephen was excellent at explaining the history of the house as well as scaring everyone at the appropriate moments during the tour. To really appreciate what I'm saying you have to experience it yourself. You won't be disappointed.
  • Visited in May with the family and we thoroughly enjoyed it. There is a great story with this house and our guide on the day created a great atmosphere. If you are looking for a 'thrill ride' then look elsewhere. The house is what it is; a great family outing.
  • Interesting building. Tour guide had excellent showmanship. Some parts very creepy. It's like a real haunted house. Great story behind it too. I liked the craft shop out behind in the courtyard.
  • Would recommend it. Great tour.Would love to do lock down one at Halloween but booked out..Nice shops in courtyard and nice tea shop
