Galway Atlantaquaria, Galway

(3.1/5 based on 400+ reviews on the web)
Get a closer look at marine life at Galway Atlantaquaria, where interactive exhibits allow visitors to touch the tank's occupants. Walk under the bones of the giant fin whale and visit the strange bottom feeders in their tanks. The viewing window for the ocean tank glows blue and teems with life, and the ray pool allows you to slide your fingers across the creature's slick back. The aquarium is near the beach and makes a nice stopping point on a city tour. Simply purchase your tickets when you arrive. • This aquarium has nothing extraordinary but has the merit to exist and present local species.

  • My son and I visited the Aquarium in the afternoon the end of January during a weekend stay in Galway. We loved the Aquarium, the staff have so much information to share and I would strongly advise yo...  more »
  • Passing many times before this Aquarium I was always curious to visit it and I took the opportunity to get a discount. We must say that I was a little disappointed in the size ... it shows everything quickly and there is a great variety of fish and shellfish. Cute downstairs environment that gives you the idea of marino and be almost in a submarine base while the upper floor is more classic. Let's say you can visit but just to take it for a spin. On the contrary I think for children can be cute and funny, it's probably better to fit them. I don't think going back (at least not alone) but it's a trip that is (especially if you are over things to do and see in Galway). For a laugh (and easy jokes), above the Aquarium there is a Chinese restaurant but the two activities are not related (and externally there is also a bar). Upon entering, between input and real aquarium, I believe there are shops for souvenirs.
