Active for 800 years, Hook Lighthouse represents the oldest operational lighthouse in the world. The lighthouse has been active since the structure was finished in the 13th century. William Marshal, the Earl of Pembroke, built this Norman tower in partnership with his Lordship of Leinster. Take a guided tour, which ends at the top of the lighthouse with stunning views of the natural surroundings. Watch for seals, dolphins, and whales in the nearby waters.   • The lighthouse is really cool with a great tour. And there's lots to do in the area. We went on a day out from Dublin but if we'd had time it would have been nicer to stay in the area for a few days.
