Hook Lighthouse, Fethard On Sea

Active for 800 years, Hook Lighthouse represents the oldest operational lighthouse in the world. The lighthouse has been active since the structure was finished in the 13th century. William Marshal, the Earl of Pembroke, built this Norman tower in partnership with his Lordship of Leinster. Take a guided tour, which ends at the top of the lighthouse with stunning views of the natural surroundings. Watch for seals, dolphins, and whales in the nearby waters. If you've worked up an appetite, head to the cafe or enjoy a picnic on site. For a souvenir, visit the gift shop. • Awesome spot in good weather. Got there good and early and had the guide to tour the light house all to ourselves. Views from the top are fantastic. There's a coffee shop on site and a large semi enclosed area for kids to run around in. Park benches to sit down and eat at and also a bunch of toys/equipment to keeps kids entertained - a big wooden ship, balls, space-hoppers, etc.
  • Beautiful spot and a lovely lighthouse full of history. Great spot for photographers as you can see from all the photos people have added. Lighthouse has a place to eat and drink coffee inside as well as a gift shop etc. They also do sunrise tours which I’d imagine would be good. I came here for the new year sunrise this year and it was beautiful. Plenty of free parking on site.
  • Love going down to hook. It's a lovely place, nice places to walk & if it's warm enough you can go for a swim. 😊
  • Beautiful part of Ireland and well worth a visit. There is parking a cafe and great facilities onsite. Well worth the drive down.
