Does not have all the bells and whistles of some attractions but does present an honest view of how things used to be and the history of an amazing piece of architecture. If you have kids they can als...  more »

We loved dressing up and having a mock battle with our swords. In one of the bedrooms you can put on dresses on hats etc. There is a shop set on site also along with memorabilia from the film Brooklyn...  more »

Lovely old castle which stands proud above the town, it a great pity we could not go in as it was outside the opening hours we were there due to our tour.  more »

Free parking at nearby 1798 centre; where you can buy a ticket covering both visits, worth seeing both. Very friendly, helpful staff. Not much heritage/history as expected, but plenty of memorabilia relating to the family who lived there last century, toys, replicas recalling WWII from a UK perspective. A lot about Brooklyn being filmed there and a replica of a shop our grandparents would have used. Eileen Gray exhibition was a surprise to find in a former castle. Both ground floor & dungeon were closed off temporarily for storage of child-oriented things following the recent bank holiday. No access to turrets, but good views from the roof. Good to visit castle with children, they'll find plenty to do.

Staff are helpful and friendly but the layout seems to suffer from a lack of funding. The 1st floor recreates how the last family who occupied the castle lived in the first half of the last century but it's not really that interesting. The furniture and other items are just a bit too ordinary. From an interest point of view it has improved with the addition of the Brooklyn exhibition. The re-creation of the 1950's shop and living room is done well and is a big improvement as the 2nd floor was solely given over to the Eileen Grey exhibition and, if I remember correctly, an ICA exhibition. I wonder is an historic castle the correct place to have an Eileen Grey exhibition? It's the last thing that one would expect visiting a medieval castle? Surely there has to be a lot more that could be exhibited associated with the history of the castle? It's definitely worth a visit but could be so much better. Hopefully extra funding in the future will allow the castle to reach its full potential!

Very well maintained and full of character of course. We attended a wedding there and it was just beautiful for photographs up on the top.

Great staff. Great views. Plenty of facts but not boring.

Great place to explore and interesting exhibition of the award-winning film made in Enniscorthy.
