  • Sandycove is easily reached by DART railway and the James Joyce tower can be the highlight of a relaxing (Ulysses) walk along the coast. Entrance is free but I suggest you give a donation. The place i...  read more »
  • A great Museum for those interested in Joyce, aside from what is home, must remember that this tower appears in the first chapter of the Ulysses. But is also a very interesting building in yes same since not many Martello towers you can visit. So although not Joyce interests you should visit it if you are in the area. It is not enough, free.

  • We came across this unusual museum when heading for a swim at the adjacent legendary Forty Foot bathing spot. It's free entry and staffed by enthusiastic, friendly volunteers. Housed in an old Martell...  read more »
  • A gem. Anyone who loves Ulysses needs to visit; Joyce stayed here for six days and worked this experience into the opening chapter of Ulysses, with "stately plump Buck Mulligan" and Stephen Daedalus, suffering from "agenbite of inwit." Original manuscript letters to and from Joyce, Joyce's death mask, his walking cane, travel trunk, and many other delights.
  • It's a fun museum with great staff who are more than willing to talk you through anything regarding the author and the general area. Very informative...so informative, you literally had two people talking to you at once, which was fun and told me they care and had so much to share. I will definitely come back again.
  • This spot is a must see for all locals and tourists alike. Set in an amazing Martello Tower, admission is free of charge and the staff are buzzing with information about James Joyce. The museum is full of interesting bits and bobs to keep all entertained, with the view from the top of the tower being a great treat to all.
  • A very cool little museum with a wonderful piece of Dublin history. It is free - which is nice - and there isn't a huge amount to see. But it's worth the stop to get a bit of Joyce. Make sure one of the guides there gives you a bit of a tour - that way you get all the interesting tidbits about how the tower fits into Ulysses.
  • Lovely little visit, great views and a good excuse to speak about Joyce :-)
