  • Impressive place, is worth a visit in my opinion the entry currently is free and from the top of the tower you can enjoy a splendid view. Inside a museum collect some works of Joyce and personal effects including a vest embroidered by his grandmother. Then there is the reconstruction of the room in which Joyce lived for a few days. A pleasant walk on the coast leads to Dún Laoghaire at the Martello Tower Recommended:-)

  • A pleasant and cheap trip on Dart from central Dublin brings you to Sandycove, and a short walk along the seafront takes you to the tower. The very friendly staff and interesting exhibits make the tri...  more »
  • Consider getting a beard at the top of this tower is perhaps a bit much, but if you settle for a visit from enthusiasts of Joyce you too satisfied. Museum staff consists of a very nice gentleman and a couple of guys who will welcome you warmly and will be at your disposal for any clarification on the author of Ulysses and the many relics preserved in the structure. The tour is free, but in the end it is almost a moral obligation to leave a donation. If even this doesn't like Joyce go there anyway, the view from the top of the tower is priceless.

  • It's a fun museum with great staff who are more than willing to talk you through anything regarding the author and the general area. Very informative...so informative, you literally had two people talking to you at once, which was fun and told me they care and had so much to share. I will definitely come back again.
  • Lensmen Photography and Video did a photoshoot in the James Joyce Museum and it was a great experience! We were able to see the Martelo tower. The views from the top of the tower were excellent for the photography session.
  • A gem. Anyone who loves Ulysses needs to visit; Joyce stayed here for six days and worked this experience into the opening chapter of Ulysses, with "stately plump Buck Mulligan" and Stephen Daedalus, suffering from "agenbite of inwit." Original manuscript letters to and from Joyce, Joyce's death mask, his walking cane, travel trunk, and many other delights.
  • Lovely little museum with great views of DUblin bay
  • Great views of Dublin Bay, amazing information about Joyce and the history of the tower. The staff are amazingly helpful. I'll be back.
