  • Actually doesn't even look like a church from the front. I had to visit in order to see where the Pope in 1835 honored Father Spratt of this church with a gift of relics of....wait for it...St. Valent...  more »
  • We came to this church, because she came out on top in this rather shopping district. And we arrived in full service. It was a special experience, the confirmation of the profound contemplation of the parishioners of this church, a scene almost unreal and hard to describe. Rather, the building is well maintained, too ostentatious, although not overloaded by place.

  • THE PROPER NAME OF THIS ANCIENT CHURCH IS OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL I JUST LOVE THE SERENE SENSE OF THE PLACE THERE IS SOMETHING ESPECIALLY COMFORTING ABOUT THE MYRIAD OF BURNING CANDLES BEFORE THE SHRINES TO THE VARIOUS SAINTS THE OPEN BOOKS OF REQUESTS AND PETITIONS THERE ARE MANY SAINTLY RELICS STORED IN THIS CHURCH INCLUDING THE HEART OF ST VALENTINE EVEN A NON BELIEVER WOULD GAIN SOMETHING SPECIAL BY ENTERING THIS CARMELITE SANCTUARY AS A DUBLINER AND FREQUENT VISITOR IT IS MY FAVOURITE PLACE OF PRAYER CALL IN SOMEDAY FOR EVEN JUST A FEW MINUTES AND GET AWAY FROM THE MADDING CROWD
  • Pretty but unknown church, even if it contains the remains of St. Valentin. Pay attention, most of the time, during the weekend, there's the mass.
  • Very nice church with an interesting history. Definitely worth a visit!
  • Architecturally not having a unified theme but an amalgam of different subjects. The remains of St Valentine being the main attraction in my opinion.
  • Beautiful church close to the heart of Dublin. Daily confessions and masses. Nice little gift shop as you enter to the left. There is even a little coffee shop as you go in to the right.

Where to stay in Dublin

Dublin offers everything from luxury hotels to eclectic guesthouses. Explore over 1,000 years of history in the city on foot by staying at one of the hotels or hostels in the city center. The south side of the river has always been a popular place to stay, particularly near Temple University or the tourist nightlife center Temple Bar, but a new crop of attractive options has popped up on the north side as well. For more affordable accommodations, try a hostel or make your way toward St. Stephen's Green for a more comfortable stay at a mid-range hotel. If the artistic spirit of Dublin is what beckoned you, spend your holiday in a guesthouse near the creative Lower Gardiner Street.
