The Old Jameson Distillery, Dublin

Categories: Distilleries, Food & Drink
Inspirock Rating:
4.1/5 based on 5,000+ reviews on the web
Have some history with your Irish coffee at The Old Jameson Distillery, which provides guided tours and tutored tastings of its best-selling whiskey. The distillery closed for business in 1971 and the building now houses a visitor center and bar, located right above the original fermentation vats, which you can still see through the glass floor of the atrium. Guided tours explain the history of Irish whiskey through a series of reconstructed scenes from the old distillery, as well as through several exhibit areas displaying all of the main stages of traditional whiskeymaking. If the tour's complimentary glass just doesn't hit the spot, drop by the second-floor restaurant, where you can take the next drink with a gourmet meal. The Old Jameson Distillery is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Dublin Edition.

  • Best distillery tour in the city, and there is only one other option. That one while it does make booze on site still doesnt actually serve that product since its too new. Go here, take the standard tour and then get the high end tasting at the bar. Its amazing stuff and the staff are fun.
  • Very informative tour that wasn't overbearing or too long. Our tour guide was incredibly enthusiastic and made the tour even more interesting. The tasting at the end was the best part, and we even got a free drink after! Would highly recommend!
  • Fabulous place to visit. Do not miss if you are in Dublin. You can get a tour of old distillery, or just go for the drinks in the bar or nice meal in the restaurant. Great gift shop.
  • This was an awesome tour for visiting the old Jameson distillery. The guide was very interesting and explained very well. We had a tasting to teach us how to recognize different kinds of whiskey. At the end of the tour they gave us a whiskey based cocktail (we also had the choice to get a glass of pure whiskey). Great experience!
  • Our guide Kevin was just grand. He had all our answers and was very welcoming. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Dublin area. For a more detailed tour you should visit the Middleton Distillery in Co. Cork
