The Old Jameson Distillery, Dublin
(4.1/5 based on 5,000+ reviews on the web)
Have some history with your Irish coffee at The Old Jameson Distillery, which provides guided tours and tutored tastings of its best-selling whiskey. The distillery closed for business in 1971 and the building now houses a visitor center and bar, located right above the original fermentation vats, which you can still see through the glass floor of the atrium. Guided tours explain the history of Irish whiskey through a series of reconstructed scenes from the old distillery, as well as through several exhibit areas displaying all of the main stages of traditional whiskeymaking. If the tour's complimentary glass just doesn't hit the spot, drop by the second-floor restaurant, where you can take the next drink with a gourmet meal. The Old Jameson Distillery is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Dublin Edition.

  • This is a tour worth doing if your interested in Irish History. The jail is so interesting. It has also been used in a number of films and its cool to see.
  • Quite frankly I was a little disappointed the visit, tasting a bit to raise the level and the shop is also very average!

  • Great tour, very informative. The guide was nice and funny and she explained all the process very comprehensively. The tasting was short but nice and then you have this nice bar where you can sit for a while and enjoy a straight Jameson or a mix with ginger ale. Worth the money and the time if you like whiskey not like the guiness one.
  • Where: Old Jameson Distillery What: A Whiskey tour How was it: This place is fun, we landed on a great tour guide ! He was one third serious, one third sarcastic and genuine. It makes a difference as you go through all the steps in the Whiskey making process. What we find odd it that's they are closed for renovations, guess it must be done but it was already great in our opinion ! The professionalism and level of organization is top ! The tours were separated by 30 minutes and they called you out by letter A, B, C and so on. It looked consistently packed and we were interested the entire tour. Hats off and we look forward to seeing the newly renovated place ! cheers, Serge & Eli Grade: Eli = 5, Serge = 5 Recommend: Yes, even if you don't enjoy whiskey (ahem, like my wife) you will still enjoy this place !
  • We were running short on time and were not able to fit in the tour, but people seemed to like it alot. You can bottle your own whiskey, get a personalized label on bottles, or just buy other souvenirs as well. The staff is very friendly. They have lists, you can tell them where you live, and they will tell you what bottles you can NOT get at home. This is awesome for foreigners (like me) who want to bring home something special.
  • Very informative! But whiskey isn't for me. The tour was good and short so I wasn't bored. The trading was quite interesting. I'm happy I could have a mixed drink for my free drink because I don't really like whiskey but it was definitely the best one in the tasting! I was expecting various Jameson whiskey's tho.
  • A lot of fun, you get to compare Jameson vs Johnny Walker and Jack Daniels. Free samples after! Only bad thing is that this is no longer a working distillery. Still fun.
