Shelbourne Park Greyhound Stadium, Dublin

#105 of 658 in Things to do in Dublin
Cheer on your best bet at Shelbourne Park Greyhound Stadium, a venue popular with both locals and visitors. The greyhound racing stadium has appeared in the British television show, Top Gear, where a car raced a greyhound, and the dog won. While you watch the races, stop by the on-site restaurant for a meal. Customers have raved about the dining experience and cuisine, and the Roisin's sticky toffee pudding comes highly recommended. • On Saturday night to the Greyhound racing. for 10 euros you can walk in and you have thick 3 hours of fun (if you all races look). From the temple bar district is the a good half hour walk. There is a free shuttle up and down and you can with the regular buses also come out well. Upon arrival we wanted like some more info on how we had to bet on it. The staff took the time to explain this tidy after which you can bet on a race every 15 minutes (minimum bet is 1 euro). We had no table in the restaurant and sat outside on the stand.

  • This is a fun and lively place. Terrific for families as great space to move around. Also quite trendy. Food in restaurant is excellent and you have a live show (racing ) while dining at your table with great views and have tote staff service so you don't have to move!! Often there is music when racing is over so all in all a great nights entertainment.
  • We went to Shelbourne Park Greyhound Stadium this weekend. The place is buzzing with energy with people doing analysis, betting, chatting and having fun all around. Chips at the restaurant were okay. Takes a bit of time for beginner to understand the betting process as the brochure doesn't explain it well and is a little confusing (meant to be?) but staff is helpful in providing information. We placed small bets for fun and it was great to see my daughter, wife, brother and his fiance jumping with joy when our dogs were leading or winning. Overall great experience...!!!
  • Watching the dogs and placing bets is extreme fund and excitement. Food is delicious. We had a great evening!
  • Incredible working/fun night with my office people. High recommended! Good fun!
  • Great nights fun. Food very nice. Great staff. A fun disco for approx one hour after the races finished

Where to stay in Dublin

Dublin offers everything from luxury hotels to eclectic guesthouses. Explore over 1,000 years of history in the city on foot by staying at one of the hotels or hostels in the city center. The south side of the river has always been a popular place to stay, particularly near Temple University or the tourist nightlife center Temple Bar, but a new crop of attractive options has popped up on the north side as well. For more affordable accommodations, try a hostel or make your way toward St. Stephen's Green for a more comfortable stay at a mid-range hotel. If the artistic spirit of Dublin is what beckoned you, spend your holiday in a guesthouse near the creative Lower Gardiner Street.
