  • My mum and I got off here as part of our hop on / hop off bus tour. What an absolute waste of time and such a large building so full of potential. There were only 2 exhibits open and both were a total...  more »
  • Enjoyed walking around and seeing the artwork and enjoyed that it was free. Some interesting pieces.  more »
  • Not the best selection of art. Great gardens and a warm way to spend a rainy day. Brilliant that it is free.  more »

  • I only popped in so not a full review. Grounds are adj to lovely gardens suitable for lunchtime walk/sit. Shop has funny cards & Lucian Freud postcards & usual kids' memorabilia. €€. Plan to go see indoor exhibits next time. I believe its €8 minimum so u need to be interested.
  • There were some nice artworks. But most of the collection did not really interest me. Whole sections were off limits though because of new exhibits. So you may have better luck. The formal garden outside is nice as are the few sculptures outside. They should have done a real sculpture garden.
  • Wonderful experience. The special collection on Lucien Freud is amazing. Free entry for students for this exhibition. All welcome for the rest of the museum. If you want to really enjoy it, I encourage you to take at least 4 h to spend there. The shop has very cool useful things, particularly if you are a passionate of cats, unicorns, books and a bit of magic. Come and look for the famous Drummer of Barry Flanagan.
  • Wonderful museum if you are interested in Irish modern art. Exhibitions change frequently and the curators generally make good choices. They emphasize artists with Irish roots or artists who have some organic ties to the island. Also there is no entry fee except for the special Freud exhibit.
  • An interesting place to visit in the old hospital just a short walk from Kilmainham Gaol. Modern art is there to challenge the concepts of art. There were a few different artists being exhibited when I visited, but I'm afraid that it challenged me to much and largely left me cold. (In comparison I really enjoyed a visit to the Tate Modern a fortnight later).
