This 18th-century building, situated along the River Liffey, is home to the High Court of Justice of the Republic of Ireland. Its profile is characterized by beautiful Lantern Dome, covered with copper. In 1922, during the civil war, suffered severe damage as a result of the shelling.

Originally held the four divisions that made up the judicial system. Destroyed by fire during the Civil War of 1921. Restored with few changes to the exterior. No photos allowed inside.  more »

I was amazed by the kindness of the staff. The building closes at 17 and despite my arrival at 16.50, they let me go without any problems (you have to go through the metal detector for a quick check). Once she was the staff to invite me in the places where it was allowed to do so. Also at closing time I wasn't invited to go out, but I was quietly up at 17.20. Really satisfied by this visit!

Gorgeous building absolutely worth checking out. Almost all matters dealt with in the complex are civil outside of the appellate manners which are handled here in both criminal and civil matters.

Surprisingly big complex. The Gandon building seems to have been updated very little, maintaining a lot of the original features, giving off a constant sense of the history of each room.

Where to stay in Dublin

Dublin offers everything from luxury hotels to eclectic guesthouses. Explore over 1,000 years of history in the city on foot by staying at one of the hotels or hostels in the city center. The south side of the river has always been a popular place to stay, particularly near Temple University or the tourist nightlife center Temple Bar, but a new crop of attractive options has popped up on the north side as well. For more affordable accommodations, try a hostel or make your way toward St. Stephen's Green for a more comfortable stay at a mid-range hotel. If the artistic spirit of Dublin is what beckoned you, spend your holiday in a guesthouse near the creative Lower Gardiner Street.
