  • It's a work in progress bringing the once neglected gardens at Kilmacurragh back to their original glory but the staff of the National Botanic Gardens have done a phenomenal amount of work over the past few years and this is a great place to visit if you want to see a huge variety of mature rhododendrons and lots of other rare plants. You'll need to visit in April, May or early June to get the full benefit of them all in flower but any time of the year is worth a visit. There's also a lovely coffee shop/ restaurant on site now.
  • The gardens are amazing!! Whatever time of year you visit there is always something to see. We recommend going in late April early May when the Rhododendrons are in bloom. The colours are beautiful!! There is a beautiful Laurel tree and if you pick one of the golden leaves that are on the floor and break it, the aroma is beautiful!! So much to see! There's a reasonably priced coffee shop there too 😀
  • Garden and Gardening staff are excellent. Lovely day. Great coffee shop. Plenty of parking
  • Well lets start with the good stuff first. Its free, staff are very nice and on the day I visited the sun was shining. But its small, smaller than I expected. The water level was low and the feed for the pond struggled. There are ample opportunities to take photos but its the layout that struck me as needing work. Many of the larger trees had been chopped back and every isle led into another isle. They have toilets and food available and if you want to pass an hour then its worth a visit. But I have only recently visited Mount Usher Gardens in Ashford and comparing the two gardens then Mount Usher gardens wins hands down. Anyway its great that we have many gardens to visit in Wicklow and no matter where you are Wicklow will have something to offer everyone. Enjoy
  • Lovely family day out any time of the year. Wander around this vast space and find a seemingly endless amount of plant, tree and flower varieties from around the globe. The gardens are high up, allowing for beautiful views of Wicklow all around. Kids find it adventurous to scour through the meandering paths throughout the park, through bushes and trees allowing imaginations to run wild...and indeed themselves! Relax in the Brambles cafe afterward for a warming drink or treat or continue walking the grounds in relaxation. I love it here! So lucky to live nearby.
