Visit in July 2017, as an accompanist with a group of 40 french teenagers. First a little film on the site, available in french. The film lasts about 20 min but is a bit dated (early 1990s probably) and unfortunately did not all teenagers ' attention... personally I found the movie interesting enough. Then climb to the small stone house, very friendly especially with a beautiful landscape. Reconstitution of this 19th century House and explanations of our guide on the way of life at that time: the peat, the cultivation of land... this part of the visit was well appreciated by young people. Finally visit prehistoric huts, in the same spirit of replenishment but unfortunately not guide available right now for the huts. Passage to shop for souvenirs and possible restoration... MiAM Miam... of scones :)

Not the kind of place that you will spend all day at but enough to do for 2-3 hours. The video at the start was very informative, giving the history of the local area. The house itself is worth seeing...  more »

Please have a look into the Connemara. You can do this by visiting your great guide Than O'Hara's Martin takes you during the Tour of more than an hour into the mountains. You look over a beautiful natural area to the ocean. You visit the old house you see here of the O'Hara's and one in the West of Ireland peat word, by hand. Also are here a nice shop. A genuine rader!

Where to stay in Clifden

The authentic charms of Clifden are best experienced while staying in the center of this seaside town. Here you will find several places to spend the night, from upscale hotels to quaint bed and breakfasts. For a more typical Irish experience, opt for the latter. Backpackers generally head for the town's hostels, while travelers with a larger budget often stay at the 19th-century castle-turned-hotel. If price is not a concern, look into renting a traditional Irish home.
