Loop Head, County Clare
(4.5/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Explore the great outdoors and snap photos at , one of Ireland's most famous peninsulas. With near-island status, this narrow strip of land is flanked by the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Shannon Estuary on the other. Hike around the impressive cliffs, watch for birds and seals amidst the wild landscape, and visit the 19th-century lighthouse. Though limited in number, the area's pubs and restaurants come well recommended; several serve local seafood. • It is truly amazing how much wind to the cliffs of Moher is made, but is hardly the talk of the Loop Head... There, it is at least as beautiful and especially not so crowded! We have just seen 4-6 people from a distance, otherwise we were alone and could walk the cliffs alone along. Definitely our highlight of our Ireland holiday!

  • Walk along the cliffs. Don't fall off. Stunning views.
  • Great bit of history and knowledge of a well maintained running light house
  • Very special place where nature can express all its power, through wind and sea. I didn't get to visit the lighthouse because of himself is not particularly interesting. But Loop Head should be visited!

  • Very nice place to walk around go and be amazed. After the end of the opening hours of the lighthouse, you feel almost as lonely at the end of the world. The overnight in the parking lot was wonderful!
