Where to stay in Cork

A destination in and of itself, Cork City has a dense center with plenty of hotels and hostels. Head north of the city center for affordable options like mid-range hotels and guesthouses. From here, you can walk or bike to all of the sights in the heart of the city. If everything is booked, or if you've simply come to explore the city's surrounding nature, check out the campgrounds about ten minutes from the center of town by car. There are also a number of charming bed and breakfasts, guesthouses, and other pensions in the outskirts, which can be a good option if you're using the city as a base for exploring the sights of Cork County.

  • If you are in Fitz's Park, make sure to cross this bouncy and entirely engineeringly sound bridge; it makes for a charming and picturesque walk across the river.  more »
  • At the western end of the public park and museum area, you'll find this little reminder of empire. Erected to mark the great exhibition of the 19th century, this footbridge spans the north channel of ...  more »
  • On your way from the city gaol to Fitzgerald Park (or inverse), it is a nice bridge to cross, but of course won't worth a long walk to see this bridge only.  more »

  • I like this bridge - it is a pity that I did not discover it sooner. If you are walking along the river Lee on the Northside and you come to Sunday’s Well road and you want to cross over to Fitzgerald’s Park on the Southside then you need to use a pedestrian bridge known as the “Shakey” or “Shaky” bridge. Unfortunately I did not know that so I had a long walk. The official name is Daly’s Bridge and it is the only suspension bridge in Cork City
  • Nice quick easy walk fun for kids too
  • Love that bridge! Always pass it on my commute to the city.
  • Cute bridge! Only noticed the shakiness when walking on it as others were walking on it as well.
