Discover the region's railway line as it existed in the 1940s at West Cork Model Railway Village. This handmade miniature world features working trains and replicas of local railway towns. Look closely to discover delightful details such as busy market scenes. The indoor interpretive room offers the opportunity to learn more about the towns and the many people who worked on the railway. Little ones will not only have fun watching the trains but can let off their own steam in the soft playroom. Don't leave without visiting the on-site tea room, set in an repurposed train carriage. The attraction also offers narrated train tours around Clonakilty. The whole system is rather small and not wansinig maintained. Unfortunately, the "cruise train" during our trip was defect. Café invites not really to the stay an and in the shop, there's just plastic junk.

the place is lovely , beautiful reconstructions. The film of the last days of the railway was excellent - made me so angry that such an important line could just be removed.  more »

Beautiful setting. Bring a picnic as there's tables outside overlooking the sea. Models are impressive. Indoor play area and outdoor playground. Didn't try the cafe. Road train will take you around the town. Nice way to spend a couple of hours and kids enjoyed it.

The village is well maintained, clean and pretty. It is, however, small. More 'towns' are needed to incorporate all of the West Cork rail line. Very biased toward Clonakilty. It took less than an hour to see everything here. The entry pricing is fair and reflects this. Nice idea of a train carriage as a gift shop. Again, it's a bit small and has too many irrelevant toys. More souvenirs of Clonakilty and the model village would be appealing to adult visitors.
