Fota Wildlife Park, Carrigtwohill

4.4
#1 of 64 in Parks in County Cork
Without a cage or fence in sight, Fota Wildlife Park houses dozens of species of mammals and birds from habitats as diverse as deserts, savannas, tropical forests, wetlands, and oceans. Designed with unobtrusive barriers, the zoo's paddocks allow visitors to observe wild animals in natural settings closely resembling their native habitats. To explore the park's 30 hectares (75 acres) in mere minutes, hop on a tour train, whcih circles the grounds and makes stops at the education center created with the youngest visitors in mind. For a more personal experience with the animals, follow the 2 km (1.2 mi) circular trail as you watch for ring-tailed lemurs and squirrel monkeys, which are allowed to roam freely and interact with visitors. • It's a wonderful place to visit and enjoy the time you spend with your family. There are many wild animals you can see in this zoo. I recommend you to visit the monkey island when you can see monkeys and lemurs around. There is a nice cafe with very kind staff. Additional attractions are available in the playground close to the cafe. I highly recommend you to see this place especially if you are exploring Ireland with kids.
  • It gets better with every visit. So amazingly laid out. Thoroughly enjoyable experience. Restaurant visit at the half way mark, coffee and food available. Really good. Staff are so nice and helpful.
  • Had great fun with the kids. A lovely way to break the journey to West cork up. Nice and clean and lots of information. Would love a phonetic way of pronouncing the animal names on the signs.
  • Fantastic place for a day out, lots to do and the zookeepers and staff are very accommodating. The park is large so it may take up a day to get around, but that's okay because you'll be having fun anyway. I love the fact that some of the animals are Free Ranging and can go around the whole park where ever they please.
  • Such a great place to visit. Animals looked after really well, lots of areas to stop and sit if you want. Can't wait to come back again
